To further add meaning and interest to the FACES fundraising event, HDO arranged for some of the children at The Children's Home to become involved in a very hands-on way. With the help of a teaching artist from Young Audiences of Maryland, the children (and us!) spend a couple afternoons getting crafty. We created fabulous paper mache masks which were framed and auctioned at the event (raising more than $1000!). The children also wrote stories about their creations. HDO used these stories, as well as a photo of the mask and a brief history of the child-artist, to create beautiful frameable cards of the children's art to send home as a memento with each guest.
